2008! THE GLOBE CELEBRATES ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY
The Director, Catherine Borgen, founder of the school, is still fully involved and her son and assistant, Anton Borgen Davis ensures that our excellent reputation and high standard will endure.
ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL!
We have redecorated both Adult and Junior Schools in and out, laying new laminate floors throughout, replacing the sofas in the Adult School and the apartments and generally making our facilities even more comfortable and attractive. The School has now Wi-Fi throughout including in the garden! The Computer Room is bigger and has 12 computers and 6 laptop ports; the new Self-Access Room is now more accessible, on the ground floor next to the Recreation Rooms; we also have a Private Study Room with 2 computers and web camera which can be booked by students for study or for private conversations with their friends and family back home. All these new facilities are free to our students of course, including scanning, photocopying, etc…!
EXETER BETTER STILL!
Exeter is still “Best City” for the quality of life. In the last few years, the City was proudly chosen to host the world famous National Meteorological Office and this year, the £235 million Princesshay development has opened, adding restaurants and over 60 new shops for the ultimate shopping experience. These include La Senza, Morgan, USC, Hobbs, Schuh, Zara and Faith. An even greater choice of stylish eating places will further raise Exeter's growing reputation as one of the best places to eat out. A fresh bright streetscape will complement the city's heritage with additional pedestrianized areas creating a relaxed and pleasant environment.
THE GLOBE ON GOVERNMENT SPONSORS’ REGISTER
We welcome the government initiative which requires that any college recruiting students from abroad will in future need to be registered on the Home Office Providers Register. To qualify for the register, schools will have to show they have been accredited by an approved body such as the British Council. The Globe has been accredited by the British Council for 23 years and is proud to be on this Register of professionals. We hold the guide to help international students obtain entry clearance (visa), which has been created in collaboration with the British Government, the British Council and EnglishUK. Please check the immigration links on our website and ask us for advice.
