Host families play a very important role in ensuring our students stay in Exeter is comfortable, enjoyable and valuable. They provide the best opportunity to learn about British culture and make more progress in English. Our hosts enjoy sharing their lives and interests with their foreign guests and including them as part of the family. Meals will be provided by your hosts and you can practise your English outside of school in a relaxed and informal environment. Our homestays are vetted and inspected in accordance with the British Council accreditation scheme. This includes safeguarding training, background checks, house visits, house safety certification and regular feedback.

Why become a homestay host?

Our hosts are very important to us. They provide safe, comfortable accommodation for our students, to give them a relaxing place to return to after school. Being a homestay provider can be incredibly rewarding. Meeting students from so many different cultures, learning about their countries, customs and family lives are just some of the reasons for it being such an enriching experience, not to mention making lifelong friends from hugely interesting destinations! Being able to share our culture with the students is also extremely valuable to them and this gives them a genuine understanding of how we live in the UK whilst giving them an opportunity to practise their English.
